Itachi's hands were anything but idle. While Kakashi peppered the air with delirious questions there were no clear-cut answers to. He clasped Kisame's hand tighter and sent a surge of chakra through his fingertips in a mimicry of Sasuke's technique. That morning with the stench of mud and adrenaline in the air, Sasuke's breathless cough of laughter and hands grappling, grabbing at wrists or fisting in hair and the crackle-static of just enough electricity to tingle his fingers numb.

He used that here, and snatched the blade away with the first spasm of Kakashi's palm, allowing it to spin and hook around his own thumb while he used the opening of surprise to kick the mans footing off, just enough, just enough to knock him unbalanced -

and slam him spine-first into the far wall.

Impassive eyes followed, burning and twirling a bright accusing red. "You assume responsibility for a tsunami when you had little more than your own hands to hold it at bay. Think," he slammed Kakashi's wrists into the wall over-head and with a few quick jerks, wound his own headband in a punishingly tight loop to lock them together, palms outward, and the kunai pinned firmly between to secure him to the wall.

"You could no more prevent it than you can stop me now. I left you alive because your life serves a purpose for me, and your death would not."
